Camellia: Silver needle white tea vodka, bergamot, seville & valencia orange, bitters

Toorima’s cocktail choice of the night!  Though the glass was not close to me, I could smell the aroma of his drink!

Very nice! & according to him towards the bottom of the glass, is a very strong taste of tea.

P1030989

Shrimp Toast: rock shrimp, cilantro, chiles, tiny croutons

The talk around the table landed on the banana leaf more than the fried shrimp ball.

The dish was okay.

P1040014

Baby Monterey Squid: chiang mai pork sausage, candlenut, mint, rau ram

Interesting dish, seems like the chef likes this sauce.

P1040020

Chicken Lemongrass Dumpling Soup: superior broth, pea sprouts, 63″ egg

The most disappointing dish of the night.  It was filled with lots of pepper and the veggie was a little too raw.

P1040028

Duck Popiah: cilantro stems, pickled jicama, house-made hoisin chile sauce

This fusion duck roll was better than I thought it would be.

P1040029

Spicy Chicken Pops: shelton farms’ drumettes, garlic, kecap manis, spicy sichuan salt

This dish was pretty good, sweet and spicy.  The outside of it was crispy but the inside was very soft and tender.

The combination of the texture and taste was superb.

P1040036

Foie Gras Ganache: carob, ceylon cinnamon, tamarind gastrique, almond, puffed rice

There were mixed thoughts on this dish: from unbearable to delicious.

It’s not the normal foie gras you eat – tasting more like pate (better as a spread)

It’s a bit on the salty side and bread would have been a great complement to this dish.

Whole Steamed Fish

The stomache area tasted a little fishy, but overall it tasted good.

P1040047

Heifloom Black Rice: lap cheong, onion, roasted garlic, lilly’s farm fried egg

The wifey was a little hesitant to try this dish.  It was too oily, but the taste was a passing grade.

P1040050

Yu Choy Sum: aged ham, shaoxing wine, garlic

Nothing special, but we need the veggies!

P1040058

Sonoma Lamb Chops: market spices, lamb chops

This view makes the lamp chops look very plain, covered with herbs c ooked medium rare.

A very good “main course”

P1040061

Chiang Mai Curry Noodles: yellow curry, lemongrass, pork belly, prawn, rice noodles

Surprised to see that with all the dishes, this one created the most interest.

Good flavor, and a little sour taste adding the Thai culture to it.

Complimentary Dessert

2 – passion fruit jello, Tapioca with Coconut, & kiwi

2 – yuzu sorbet with a pudding (The wifey enjoyed this complimentary dessert)

1 – pistachio sorbet with dark chocolate mousse

The Bill

$52 a person (for 5), not bad.  Try a little bit of everything.
